7er Jungs - Mädchen Mögen Skinheads

Randale Records

7er Jungs are without a doubt one of my favorite active German bands at the moment. I only have one problem with these guys, the lack of full-length albums! The last, also their debut, album already dates back to ten years ago and ever since the band released half a dozen (split-)EP’s. Great EP’s though. To this list we can now add 7-inch number seven in the form of the “Mädchen Mögen Skinheads” EP.

The EP contains two brand new songs by Cologne’s premier blitz rockers in the form of the title-track, “Mädchen Mögen Skinheads” (“Girls Like Skinheads”), on the A-side and “www.facebook.com” on the flipside. Unlike the previous 45’s, “Great Days In The Blitz” and “Skinhead Drinking Time”, 7er Jungs are back with a release in their native tongue, which is great. Because unless you are Oxymoron I always prefer a German band to sing in their own language, it just adds that little extra to the explosive sound most of the German Oi! and streetpunk bands already have and 7er Jungs are no exception.

“Mädchen Mögen Skinheads” is much alike like their previous 7” “Skinhead Drinking Time”. Not just because of the cartoony cover artwork, but music wise as well. Powerful songs with matching guitar melodies and catchy sing along choruses topped off by Markus’ strong vocals auf Deutsch. Great stuff again, although I would kill to get one of those misprinted records (that apparently contains music by a bloke that goes by the name of François Long) that caused a delay of over two months on the ‘real deal’!

KrautRock extravaganza from the great city of Cologne! Not to be missed if you are into 7er Jungs previous work. Now save up some songs and give us a sophomore album already!
