Although founded in 2012, it wasn’t until a year later when Aggressive Response got caught on tape for the first time with the release of a self-titled EP through their Bandcamp page. Last summer it was time for the real deal (read vinyl) though, when Albany’s aggro-crew released their debut LP “Self Destroyer” through their local Wax Deli!

 

Instantly putting in the boot with opener “Loner”, it is clear from the start that Aggressive Response’s sound goes further than the ‘hardcore-punk’ label they get online. With an hefty dose of good old fashioned Albany Oi! thrown into the mix, “Self Destroyer” delivers a furious combination of short, fast paced mosh-action and tough as nails sing-alongs, bound to leave you battered and bruised!

 

Because with its ten songs barely crossing the 20 minute mark, Aggressive Response’s debut LP is a violent whirlwind! Bursting out powerful, compact songs, heavily influenced by the likes of Negative Approach, Warzone and Sheer Terror, “Self Destroyer” is a must-hear for those into bands such as 86 Mentality, Doomhammer, Concealed Blade and Cycle Of Violence. Bulldozing, Oi! inspired, hardcore on black (202 copies) and randomly colored (119 copies) vinyl, the sick cover artwork tops this release off! Brutal!
