A decade after Alternate Action’s last effort – and some small activity with this little band called Bishops Green... – the Canadians are back! Not just live, oh no, but with an all new record as well! “Violent Crime” is the title and it’s an absolute scorcher of a mini-LP!

 

Presenting four new tracks and a re-recorded version of “Skinhead Way Of Life” – taken off the aforementioned ‘last effort’, the compilation “Streetpunk & Disorderly 2019” or the second “Longshot Promo” (depending on which version you got) – this gem contains everything you loved about The Lancasters, the first Bishops Green 12” and – of course – Alternate Action! It’s raw, it’s dark and it’s literally one anthem after another! Trust me, once you turn this record on, you can’t turn it off – I know I can’t!

 

Opener and title-track “Violent Crime” instantly lets you hear why. Greg Huff’s significant, superb vocals, the thumping beat and that somewhat shrill, but razor sharp guitar sound will have you hooked instantly – not letting you go for the four remaining tracks of this massive 12”! Because whether it is “One Way Street”, the fairly brilliant “Antisocial”, “Pushed Aside” or the track that mysteriously never ended up on the collected works entitled “Thin Line” – “Skinhead Way Of Life” – the total has the same impact on me as the earlier mentioned first Bishops Green 12”, a record I am still raving about six years later – stunning!

 

Not only marks “Violent Crime” the return of Alternate Action, it also reinvents the sound most – if not all – of Greg Huff’s bands got known for, classic yet modern, catchy but always fierce and killer through and through! A must-have!
