Anti-Nowhere League / The Damn Garrison - Split EP

Rebel Sound Music

Another Rebel Sound split EP! This time between the legendary UK punkrockers of Anti-Nowhere League and New Hampshire’s powerhouse The Damn Garrison featuri...ng Keith “Ritchie” Richards of The Bruisers. How these two bands wound up on a split together? I don’t have a single clue. Does it matter? Not really, as long as there are some good tunes on it. And guess what...?

Side A is for the Anti-Nowhere League, and to be honest, I never really looked into this band. Of course I know the classics, they must have been on every cheap punk compilation I bought when I was in my early teens. But to claim I ‘know’ them, nah, not really, though I saw them for the first time live last year and I could sing-along to half of the songs, not a bad score. To this knowledge I can now add two more songs, “The Day The World Turned Gay” and “Adventures Of Peter Vile”, both in that typical hardrock’n’roll influenced sing-along punk style and previously only available on the 2006 “Pig Iron” compilation album as bonus tracks.

But the real reason I keep on playing this EP is because of The Damn Garrison’s side. Their tracks, “The Real Ones” and “Pride And Honor”, got so much power into them, incredible! Vocalist Mike has an awesome voice and the fists in the air, chanting and singing along choruses top it off. But on a side-note, these tracks are also on the “Unsung Heroes” EP, so this is either a “WTF, why?” or “WTF, punk and Oi! music is really making me deaf because I really don’t hear the difference!”, so if someone knows... do tell! I just really hope these guys head back into the studio soon to record brand new songs!

So, it seems like there’s nothing new on here. Just a bunch of cool pieces of colored wax, besides the 200 black copies, in Halloween orange (another 200 copies) and lime green colored vinyl. If you don’t have the “Pig Iron” compilation or the “Unsung Heroes” 7” this is worth your buck, but if you do you must be a real hardcore collector to spend another 8 dollars on this split EP.
