Anti Clockwise - Bluthochzeit

Oi! The Nische Records / Tällärwäschär Dreckords

After two demo’s, five EP’s and three more split EP’s, the full-length debut of Magdeburg’s Anti Clockwise finally arrived at American Oi!’s HQ! Originally released by the band on CD in 2017, “Bluthochzeit” is now - since late 2018 actually - available on vinyl, thanks to Oi! The Nische Records and Tällärwäschär Dreckords!

Despite that I didn’t get to this record before, I was really looking forward to hearing this LP nonetheless. Every single EP the Germans released so far - which are all collected on the “EP Sammlung” double-CD released in 2016 - was pure gold, the exact reason I didn’t expect anything less from Anti Clockwise’s first big, clunky piece of black wax. As always the lads do not disappoint, while the two labels responsible for this release put in the works as well by packing the LP in a beautiful, hand-numbered gatefold sleeve - limited to 500 copies.

Like a bastards child of The Templars and The Skinflicks, Anti Clockwise sounds clean, mean and razor sharp on “Bluthochzeit”. Although unlike the aforementioned bands, the boys from Magdeburg always sung in German, and the thirteen tracks on the band’s debut LP are no exception. Now whether it be “Vierte Gewalt”, title-track “Bluthochzeit”, “German Angst”, “Die Neue Stasi”, “Hassliche Strasse”, “Treuhandblues” or “Pendeln”, these guys deliver hit after hit - charged with melody, aggro and front man Martin’s excellent vocals!

“Bluthochzeit” definitely tastes like more and since it was originally released in 2017, there’s a good chance that more will come sooner than later! But for now I’ll go and give this record another spin! Not your typical German Oi! Band in my book, so take note if you’re up for something else from Der Heimat!
