Bent Out Of Shape – Old Rats On A New Ship

Demons Run Amok Entertainment/Audio Epidemic Records

Bent Out Of Shape have only been around for about three years, but in that short period of time the Dutch-Frisian outfit quickly made a name for themselves! 2020’s demo CD instantly got them a deal with German label Demons Run Amok Entertainment and ever since the ink of that contract dried up the band released their debut EP “Who Laughs Last” and two split EP’s with respectively The Boldness (Indonesia) and fellow countrymen Skroetbalg – a solid discography indeed!

And though the latter split EP was not released by Demons Run Amok, the band’s newest record certainly is! In a co-production with Audio Epidemic Records (USA) for the vinyl version of the album, the German label just released Bent Out Of Shape’s debut full-length “Old Rats On A New Ship” on both LP and CD and its a hard rockin’ scorcher from start to finish!

For those that are not familiar with Bent Out Of Shape just yet, the band plays melodic streetpunk with a rowdy edge, has boisterous vocals and massive sing-along choruses to accompany the lyrical topics about life, the scene, better days, football and – of course – Ozzy Osbourne! Sounds like fun, right? Correct! Along with the vibrant and passionate sound, Bent Out Of Shape once again delivers some highly contagious anthems in the form of opener “My Part Of Town”, “Places To Go”, “Never Went Away”, “Ozzy Was A Skinhead”, “What You Wanna”, “Contagious” (obviously) and a cool cover of Major Conflict’s “Stand By Your Guns” to wrap it up – awesome!

That’s it? Not really! Because if you get “Old Rats On A New Ship” on CD you’ll get two bonus-tracks, namely “True Colors” and “We Rule, OK” to complete the package. Both originally appeared on last year’s split EP with The Boldness but never appeared on a compact-disc before, until now that is! So take your pick, get aboard and sail away with those old rats!
