Long lasting French label Bords De Seine has started “Oi! The Vintage Vinyl Series” in which the label will release old or classic recordings by French Oi! and punk bands. Earlier this week I already reviewed number one in that serie (Taxi Driver) and now it’s time for the third release in this promissing new collection with “Enfant De La Crise” by Boot Boys.
But unlike Taxi Driver the Boot Boys from the Paris area never released a EP or a full-length record, just two demos that were recorded in 1984 and are collected on this LP and CD. So with that being said you probably know what to expect. Raw and violent patriotic skinhead action from this, at the time, young Oi! band.
There’s a total of 10 songs on “Enfant De La Crise” of which most are raw recordings, but can easily be listened too with expecation of two live recorded songs that are rather poor recorded. But despite these ‘bonus tracks’ (not sure if they were on the actual demos or not) you still get a lesson in French history of Oi! music with the remaining songs such as “Dernier Rempart”, “Enfants De La Crise”, “Skinheads”, “Ulster” and “Skins De France” which are all actually pretty damn good tracks!
So if you’re into French Oi! music and want your collection to be complete, this is worth your buck. Sure the recordings aren’t of this time and age anymore, but the songs themselves are good and will get appreciated if you’re into bands such as Skinkorps and Snix.
