Brutalität - S/T

The Firm Records / Tough Times Music

Straight out of streets of São Paulo, Brazil comes Brutalität, a brand new and - as the name already suggests - hard hitting skinhead rock ‘n’ roll band who just released their self-titled debut EP through The Firm Records and Tough Times Music! Time for a review? Yup, it finally is!

I write finally, because the three songs on this slab of wax were recorded back in 2018 already! Also the initial, ‘official’ release would have been in that year, but due to troubles with customs the band - and therefor the ‘official’ release date - would surpass the original date well over a year. Wow... Luckily Brutalität finally received their copies, so it’s time to get that promotional machine rolling!

Because despite that the background story of this release is fascinating (or frustrating, depending on your involvement in this release), it’s obviously the music that counts - music that indeed is brutal! Of course you could have heard these songs online, or through the third volume of the “Brasil Oi!” compilation already, but in the end nothing beats a good old fashioned, crackling record filled with sheer power!

And sheer power is what Brutalität provides with the tracks “Meaningless Kid”, “So Concerned” and “Terror Mental Attitude”! Brute, stomping Oi! music at its finest - just the way I like it! Sure, there is room for some heavy, melodic guitar riffs, but nonetheless both the music and the vocals are pure aggro from start to finish - making sure these barbaric Paulistanos and their terror mental attitude are not ones to fuck around with!

With the complete run pressed on black vinyl, Brutalität’s debut EP is limited to just 200 copies - though the mentioning of it being the first press might suggest a second run in the near future. Yet I highly suggest picking this record up now though, simply because you don’t want to wait for another year of custom problems and it’s just too good to ignore if you like your music vicious and ultra violent!
