Chubby And The Gang – All Along The Uxbridge Road
Static Shock Records
What do Charlie Fresh – of Arms Race, Crown Court, Violent Reaction and many more – and the lads of Gutter Knife have in common? Well, probably more than a thing or two, but from this week on the foremost collectively is without a doubt Chubby And The Gang and its debut release on Static Shock Records – the “All Along The Uxbridge Road” 45!
And what a debut it is! It’s only a 7”, it’s barely 4 minutes long and it’s just 2 songs total, but what an energy on this double A-sided scorcher of Chubby Charles and his gang! “All Along The Uxbridge Road” is undoubtedly this year’s subculture summer-hit with its fast-paced, upbeat sound, handclaps, harmonica, killer guitar melodies and a massively addictive, ultra-catchy chorus! Blending ’77, powerpop, Oi! and a bit of bovver rock all in a single anthem – brilliant to say the least!
There’s more though! Because on the flipside, Chubby And The Gang crank out some more of that Acton-aggro with “Mockba”, a fiercer – yet evenly catchy – powerhouse bound to cause some serious harm, wreckage and destruction! Why is this only a single? I want more! More! More!
But for now this superb 45 will do. Please note though that only 300 copies of this record were pressed, so stay ahead of the buzz and secure a copy today! I simply can’t imagine these lasting long... Props for the labels on the 7” by the way! Must-have!
