Complete Loss – S/T LP
Contra Records
Holy shit has it been five whole years already since the release of Complete Loss’ first – and only – demo? Sure it feels like ‘yesterday’ because Contra Records issued that same demo on vinyl in 2018, but still! Luckily the lads from the North Rhine-Westphalia area (Germany) are still around and breaking spines, and they now do so with a brand new album!
Once again released by Contra Records, this self-titled LP was very much anticipated. But to be honest, I wasn’t aware of the fact that I needed this that much! I guess even at Contra’s HQ they underestimated our urge to get completely lost, because the original press of 300 copies (divided over 100 copies on green vinyl and 200 on black vinyl) almost instantly got supplemented with a second run of another 200 black copies! And all for the simple reason that this record kicks a whole lot of ass!
Imagine a young Lou Koller being born and raised in Dortmund, Germany, moving to Boston at age 10 and doing lead-vocals on “Step On It” a decade or so later and you get the idea of what Complete Loss is about! With a fast, hard and boisterous sound, these guys rip through eleven bangers like there’s no tomorrow, barely making the 24-minute mark! You know that means a whole lot of hardcore influences in your sing-alongs and Complete Loss delivers it with class!
Fans of No Time, The Detained, Urban Savage, PMS 84 and of course 86 Mentality take note, because Complete Loss drops the oomph you’ve been waiting for and a nice poster for above your bed! Love it!
