Coupe Gorge – Troubles
Offside Records
With all variants (cassettes and vinyl) released over time of both Coupe Gorge’s demo (2015) and split EP with The Hammer (2016), you’d almost forget that their last feat of arms was released nearly two years ago. Almost though. Because earlier this year Thrashzone Tapes (Offside Records’ cassette-sister) kindly, yet urgently reminded us trouble was upon us with the release of a three-track tape to promote Coupe Gorge’s upcoming mini-LP, which is out now on Offside Records!
Entitled “Troubles”, you will find a total of eight new songs (five obviously if you wore that promo tape out like me), barely reaching the 12-minute mark. You know what that means right? A rollercoaster of French awesomeness, taking you full-speed ahead that is! Instantly grabbing you by the throat with opener “Précipice”, you will soon realize the lads from Brest were still taking things easy on you, because what follows is a full-scale assault of fast-paced hardcore stompers with “Entre Deux Feux” and “Envie Destructrice”, leaving you breathing for air!
Luckily enough you get some time for that with mid-tempo – at least by Coupe Gorge’s standards – sing-along “Stupide Trahison”, only to step down the pedal to the metal again with the ripping “Addiction” and “100%” – holy shit! Definitely their best work to date, and there are still two more songs to go! Both tracks, “Mise A Mort” and “J’avance Seul”, are by coincidence – or not – the longest and the more slower songs on “Troubles”, perfectly balancing out their influences on this killer mini-LP!
With a running time of under 12 minutes, it was decided to cram all tracks on the A-side, leaving some room on the B-side for some silk-screening action, making “Troubles” not just a must-have audibly, but visually as well! Get this fucker now!
