Cruzada – S/T EP

Zerowork Records / Dog City Records / Firecum Records

Like a blaze in the Mediterranean sky comes Cruzada, a brand new, two-men project out of Lisbon, Portugal with Luís of Crise Total, Albert Fish, Facção Opposta, Atlantes, Falcata and what not in its ranks! Yup, Rattus is always busy, but he’s always releasing good new music as well – so everyone’s a winner!

Cruzada sounds a little - okay, that might be an understatement - different than Luís’ other, currently active, bands though. You won’t find any catchy punk-rock or boisterous Oi! anthems on this CD, nor will you find any fun, core, mosh or trends back in the 15 minutes that this debut is rich. Instead you get a vile dose of tormented vocals, haunted melodies and fast, overly aggressive noise that will make your ears bleed - just the way I like it!

Recorded during the time span of nearly two years, Cruzada really gives you the feeling that every bit and piece that is placed in its four tracks is well thought out - how chaotic and blasphemous the result may sound! All songs, namely “Inquisição”, “Heresia”, “Cruzada” and “Penitencia”, rip it up from start to finish and sound absolutely devastating - making sure that this is a debut CD you will surely remember, whether you’re into it or not.

Because the latter is the question of course. As said, this ain’t Oi!, punk or hardcore, but scorching black metal from the south of Europe. I love it, but I am into the genre to begin with. You too? Let’s find out through the video left of this review!
