Cuir – Single Demo 12”

Offside Records

Last year Doug, the lead-singer of Sordid Ship, Coupe Gorge and more, put out two fantastic cassettes under the Cuir moniker. This synth punk solo-project released both its demo (named “Demo Demo Demo”) and a single (named “Single Single”) through Thrashzone Tapes and Forty Tapes, and all 150 tapes of each release sold out in a heartbeat! Now you can always duplicate more, but you can also make it bigger and even better than ever before, right?!

And that is exactly what Offside Records did! The label – of which Thrashzone Tapes is a part of – collected both cassettes, threw them on hotter than hot pink vinyl and added a bonus-track in the midst of all this chaos to make it bigger, better and more brilliant than ever before!

Simply entitled “Single Demo” I previously reviewed both “Demo Demo Demo” and “Single Single” already – so it’s kind of pointless to go through all it again. But with that being said, it’s 12” vinyl, it plays at 45 RPM, the songs are short, ferocious and highly addictive attacks – so you damn well know this release is far superior compared against last year’s cassette releases. Along with additional bonus-track “Synthpunk Attitude” – which is evenly brilliant as previously released tracks such as “Mode Branleur”, “Tension”, “Overdose Chaos”, “Trop Vieux Pour Mourir Jeane” and “Trou Noir” – this is, yet again, an absolute must-have from French soil!

Along with the music, the sleeve, the color of the vinyl and the 80’s vibe of the back of the out sleeve and printed inner sleeve this release really stands out from the rest and really needs a spot in your record collection. Be quick though, as the first press is nearly gone already only weeks after its release! Don’t say I didn’t warn you...
