Dying Breed – The Last Of A Kind
La Nostra Força
Featuring members of The Upset and Reconquesta, Dying Breed is a brand new outfit with some familiar Catalonian faces! The band debuted with two killer tracks on the “La Nostra Força” compilation – which I recently reviewed, but simultaneously released their first LP as well. Time to dig into “The Last Of A Kind”!
Now despite that “The Last Of A Kind” wears catalog number LNF 002 on its sleeve, the eight tracks on this mini-LP were actually recorded a year prior to the aforementioned compilation album. And unlike those compilation tracks, that are in Catalan language and recorded in a studio, “The Last Of A Kind” is completely in English and recorded in the band’s rehearsal space! Different circumstances for sure, but a rough and ready scorcher nonetheless!
Coming in at 45 revolutions per minute, Dying Breed’s sound is raw, vile and violent, brickwall Oi! without the mess and fuss! And even though I like the mess and fuss most of the time, authentic sounding stompers are always welcome as well and that is exactly what you get on “The Last Of A Kind”! No-nonsense, straight forward and in your face aggression that will start a riot for sure with rabble rousing anthems such as “Drunk & Disorderly”, “We Bring The Chaos”, “Nothing But Pose”, “The Fall Of Discontent” and “In The Darkest Hour”!
From front to back “The Last Of A Kind” just makes the sixteen minute mark, making it a short but savage whirlwind of noise for the bootgirls and bootboys! Although we are a dying breed, Dying Breed is here to stay! Killer!
