Faction S - Demo 2019 12”

Combate Brutal

While Faction S might be a relatively new band, the men behind the Parisian formation already earned their stripes a long time ago. With members of other hard-hitting, French bands in its ranks such as Outreau, Tchernobyl, Lion’s Law and many... many more, you know beforehand that things are going to be good, but guess what? Things just got even better!

Originally released on cassette through Le Diable Au Corps, the tape - limited to 100 copies - the tape sold out faster before you could correctly pronounce the title of opening track “Soleil De Plomb”! But what’s better than a cassette? Vinyl of course! Especially when its released by Combate Brutal, who - as always - really put in the works to make yet another beautiful release, just as their previous efforts!

Now the artwork, the lay-out and how all of it is assembled already justifies a purchase, but luckily the music is just as sick as well! With a negative, vile and crude sound, the skinheads from Paris stomp through the seven tracks their demo is rich! With six originals and a Judge cover of New York Crew - though transformed to “Bastille Skinhead Crew” - Faction S’ Oi! sounds both dangerous and sinister, while front man Frédo barks out his lyrics with a hateful snarl - love it! With the aforementioned opener, “Zéro”, “Croire”, “Poseur”, “Marée Noire”, “Pierre Tombale” and Judge cover there isn’t a single bad track on here, making me wish the B-side was filled with music as well!

Unfortunately it isn’t, as all songs fitted on one side, making this a single-sided 12” - but what a 12” it is! Good luck at hunting one down though, because despite that Combate Brutal pressed 200 copies (all on black vinyl, two front-cover variations), the label quickly sold out of them, while the band will sell their copies online soon - so keep your eyes peeled, this release is a must! And now we wait for Faction S’ freshly recorded EP...
