I think you already noticed, but for those who didn’t… The Fat is back! And with the Fat I obviously mean the Fatskins. Got the scoop on some of these tracks pretty early thanks to my brother from oversea Wynn (Fatskins, Drink And Destroy Crew) so the mp3’s were in my playlist for a while already but this week the vinyl version of Fatskins brand new 12” EP / MCD “A Young Man’s Game” arrived so it’s time for a propper review!

It’s been a while since we have heard from the Fatskins. The last recordings date back to 2004 I believe when the band released a split CD with Last Laugh called “Welcome To Arizona” on the British Step-1 Music label. And after radiosilence of almost 10 years it’s yet again a European label, Randale Records, that picked these American heavyweights up to release six brand new tracks!

One might wander if the Fatskins and this reunion record are still relevant with all these great new”ish” bands out there. To that I can only say; “Yes! Fatskins still are!”. The wheel is not invented again on this 12” EP, but the band stayed true to their style which makes “A Young Man’s Game” a honest, no bullshit, 100% American Oi! record with six killer tracks for anyone who’s into that tradtional Oi! sound from American soil.

Favorite track is without a doubt “It’s Time To Take It Back”, I just love the lyrics and guitarriffs of this song and I could literally listen to this track the whole day without getting bored by it. Top notch stuff! The whole package is top notch actually, with cool artwork and tons of pics that take you down Fatskins’ memory lane you get a record that doesn’t only sound great but looks great as well which makes “A Young Man’s Game” a great comeback record!

Now just let’s hope these guys stay around a bit longer and will release more records than they did in the past and it’s all good. Randale Records did an awesome job with this album and believing in the Fatskins and it deserves all the support it can get! So go out and get this!
