FAUL – S/T

Olifant Records

Polish outfit FAUL has been going at it for years now and released several CD’s and contributed to a number of compilations along the way. Now my Polish is a bit rusty – to say the least – but I believe this fourth, self-titled, CD is recorded in honor of the band’s 20th anniversary (congratulations) and that it is a ‘best-of’ compilation of which Olifant Records has the intention to release it on LP as well – correct me when I am wrong though!

Now I wrote the latter part above because none of FAUL’s previous albums have ever been released on vinyl before. You know, there are actually people out there that actually only buy vinyl, and releasing this compilation on LP  would be FAUL’s introduction into that world and I got to say, a very proper introduction indeed!

Because in all honesty, I wasn’t too familiar with these guys either – but with four tracks off their debut album “Nikt Nie Gra Fair Play”, two songs off sophomore album “Prostacki Punk” and three more off 2017’s “Łozdupc” I was properly introduced! Fast and solid, melodic yet angry hardcore-punk influenced Oi! music is what FAUL delivers and with songs such as “AMF”, “Wybujane Pipki”, “N Jak Nienawisc”, “Rock & Oi!” and “HC Skinhead” they do it with style! Besides that all songs have been re-recorded for this release, this self-titled compilation also features two new (or at least unreleased) tracks, namely “Patriotyzm Za 8 Dych” and “HIT”, just to make sure that it’s an interesting purchase for those who own the band’s previous releases as well.

Limited to 400 copies, the four-panel digipak looks a bit simple with no further information or lyrics, but therefor clean at the same time. Nice compilation with some great, newly recorded tracks!
