Grabuge – Perdu d’Avance

Damn! I can’t believe I missed out – or with the perk of having a baby/toddler go rampage around the house, forgot about – the cassette-release of Grabuge’s “Perdu d’Avance”! Originally released in March of 2017 by Acouphènes! Records, this could have easily been one of my favorite demos of 2017, but fortunately the band gets a second chance with the vinyl release of “Perdu d’Avance” in 2018!

 

This time around Acouphènes! Records teams up with not one... not two... not three... but four more labels to release Grabuge’s debut 12”! Contra Records, Crom Records, Flail Records and Spit It Out are all on board and although I get it (spreading the financial risk), it is still odd that it takes five – all European – labels to release such an amazing record, because that is exactly what “Perdu d’Avance” is!

 

From the fantastic artwork – that instantly catches the eye – to the superb anthems that were pressed into the grooves of this black piece of wax, you can just see and hear that Grabuge didn’t settle for anything less than being completely satisfied! Therefor the final result of the band’s first ever vinyl release – in Grabuge’s five year existence – is a shocker and an absolute must-have for fans of both the classic and new school French Oi! and streetpunk sound!
