Gutter Knife – Boots On The Ground
Quality Control HQ
Quality Control HQ is at it again! Hardly recovered from that sick Mere Mortal 12” that Ola released late last year, she now throws the vinyl debut of Brighton’s seaside savages Gutter Knife at you and me - a 13-minute ruckus entitled “Boots On The Ground”!
Is it hardcore, Oi! or UK82? It’s crude, uncouth and violent – that’s for sure! Straight after the fierce, short instrumental intro – simply titled “Intro” – the madness unleashes with the fast-paced “Hangman”, a barbaric stomper in the vein of your favorite NWOBHC bands such as Violent Reaction, The Flex and Arms Race – scorching indeed!
Marching on with a healthy dose of rage and aggro, Gutter Knife cuts through “Turncoat”, “Abuse Of Power” (oomph!) and “Imposter”, before slowing things a bit down with “No Justice”, “Revenge” and title-track “Boots On The Ground” – coincidentally (or not) the three longest tracks on this slab of wax, providing some rip-roaring Oi! altogether! Fairly brilliant to say the least!
Besides Gutter Knife’s killer sound, Quality Control HQ also made sure the packaging of this record is outstanding, as the blue vinyl comes in a sturdy sleeve, includes a sturdy cardboard insert and has some top-notch artwork to top it off! 350 copies total, so fans of Violent Reaction, Crown Court, 86 Mentality and No Time know what to do...
