I can easily say Hammer And The Nails is one of my favorite American Oi! bands at the moment. They really got the whole package when it comes down to music, lyrics, vocals, use of artwork… everything. Also I was pretty stoked about getting this split EP with the Butcher Boys because it got released pretty fast after the “Rome Is Burning” 45 which is a luxury since their last work prior to these EP’s was from 2010.
Again these guys impress with their two tracks on this 7”. Hammer And The Nails kick their side off with the brand new song “Kept Alive”. Just like I described above this song pretty much have everything you expect from this band with a great sound and great lyrics. Also the covertrack “Justice”, originally by the Straw Dogs. The original song is good, but Hammer And The Nails make it a even more powerful track than it already was! Can’t wait for more new stuff by these guys!
Then the Butcher Boys from Australia. These guys debut on this split EP and is a project of Alex and Will who you might know from their other band The Corps. Altough comparing the bands with each other can easily be done because of Alex’s typical and mean vocals, musicaly it’s not quite the same. The label notes the sound of the Butcher Boys is Chiswhick style meets Condemned 84 and I can agree on that one. Skrewdriver “All Skrewed Up” era with Alex’s tough as nails vocals make this a band to look out for in the future!
