HORDA - LXSH

Combate Brutal

Although HORDA is a blistering new outfit out of Lisbon, Portugal, its members barely need any further introduction. Fronted by, who other than, Luís Rattus (Crise Total, Facção Opposta, Atlantes, Albert Fish, Falcata and more) on vocals, guitar and bass, the band is completed by João Guerra (ex-Falcta) on drums. Just two men strong indeed, yet their debut single "LXSH" for Combate Brutal sounds as strong as an army of thousands of men!

A-side and title-track "LXSH" starts of dark and cold with a sublime synthesizer intro followed by a threatening set of guitar chords. The real madness doesn't start until the drums come pounding in though. Climaxing with both the synth and guitar to the first verse of this heavy, fairly lengthy (3 minutes and 17 seconds) and scorching track, HORDA quickly proves to be everything I expected them to be - a true powerhouse! With forceful, combative lyrics, a massive chorus and that grim sound that just gets under your skin, "LXSH" is right up my alley and a killer anthem indeed!

Speaking of which, the flipside featuring "Vida Conflictiva" equally kills it, though its style is somewhat different. Instead of the synthesizer as an extra instrument, this track gets an extra layer due to the usage of a saxophone - giving it that French feel to it. The sax provides the melody, but other than that "Vida Conflictiva" sounds brute to boot, providing everything I love best - savagery with additional melodies from either keys or wind instrumentens, preferably a saxophone - top!

Limited to 200 copies on black vinyl, the pressing is equally divided into 100 copies with a black sleeve and silver print and 100 copies with a silver sleeve and black print, all coming in Combate Brutal's uniformed style and looking beautiful as always. Now the bad news though - it's already sold out! Within a few hours all copies were gone and for good reasons, so if you come across a distro that received some copies - don't hesitate and buy it instantly, because this is a sick release indeed!
