IRMO - Demo 2019

Mendeku Diskak

With (ex-)members of Aggressive Combat, Orreaga 778, Hawkins Thugs, Legez Kanpo and more in its ranks, the lads of Basque-outfit IRMO are certainly no strangers to the scene. Now despite that their 2019 demo was never intended to be widely released, let alone on vinyl, their experience is something you instantly hear back on these recordings, that are now released afterall through Mendeku Diskak!

But obviously the first thing that will catch your attention, before you even put that 7" on your turntable, is obviously the overly recognizable artwork by Alteau. The Herberts' front man drew some of my favorite album covers of the 90's for records such as the "Anthem EP", "Faccia A Faccia", "Super Yobs II" and "Phase II", always making it a pleasure to see his work being featured on newer releases as well - always a big plus in my book.

Other than that, IRMO's demo features five tracks total, including a - I assume - fully translated cover of Reich Orgasm's classic "Futur Pour Tous". I write translated, because with the exception of "21st Century Disease" all songs are in the band's native tongue - something I always prefer. With that being said, the only English track on this slab of wax includes guest vocals by Sucker of the mighty Oxymoron and Bad Co. Project though - easily throwing my preferences overboard!

Along with the three remaining tracks, "Kaskamotzentzat", "Zipaiorik Ez" and "Gitarra Kaxkarrak", IRMO delivers that classic and boisterous Oi! Oi! sound with some streetrock 'n' roll influences to them, sounding very promising for the future to come! Especially given the fact that these songs were just recorded 'for fun', I can't wait what IRMO will bring to the table when they truly mean business! For now this excellent EP will do though, now pick it up on either black (211 copies) or clear orange (108 copies) vinyl!
