Recently I posted the interview I did with Jenny Woo on the website and the reactions on Facebook were kind of harsch. Then again, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and is allowed to give this on our Facebook page. Here I can give you my very own opinion about Jenny’s new album “My Revenge”, so sit back, relax and agree or disagree on what I have to say.

First of all I want to say I love Jenny Woo’s debut album “Alberta Rose”. I like the mix of acoustic songs and the “electric” tracks with a full band, the idea reminds me of the Dutch band Badlands altough Jenny Woo is obviously a woman unlike the male fronted Badlands.

What I loved most about “Alberta Rose” was the mix between the acoustic and electric songs on the release itself as well, something I miss on “My Revenge”. When you get her new album on vinyl you’ll find all electric tracks on side A and all acoustic tracks on side B with 7 songs on each side. I find this unfortunate and I am not sure what the reason behind this is. Personally I would have preferred a mixture of these two different styles of Jenny just like on her first album.

With the songs themself is nothing wrong of course. Overall there’s yet again some great songwriting on “My Revenge” but I like the electric side better then the acoustic one, while on “Alberta Rose” I preferred the acoustic songs with their hearfelt lyrics far more. Best song on “My Revenge” is probably “Fire Inside”, the only song that is a strong combination of both Jenny’s acoustic and electric side.

Fans can buy this record without a doubt, altough you might need to spin it a few times to get into it just like me. Haters will remain hating, I don’t see “My Revenge” change any of that, but that’s just how it is.
