Larry Noseman – Short Hair, Sideburns, Bovver Boots

Pride And Passion / United Against Society

Larry Noseman is the project of Pride And Passion’s own head honcho Lars. Besides releasing some sick (and nauseating limited) records with his label, he apparently can play an instrument or three as well, as Larry Noseman is a one-man outfit, completely recorded and sung in by Lars, aka Larry, himself!

In comparison the first thing, or should I say person, that came to my mind is obviously Arch Rivals’ Tom Boutwood, who single handedly recorded previous releases with Hostile Minds (though a complete band now) and Hard Wax. And especially to the latter one, the Larry-show shows strong resemblances, as their sound leans to the same direction of raucous rock ‘n’ roll, glam-ish riffs and fierce bovver rock!

Although never out of style, I reckon it is partly due to the success of a band such as Giuda that this type of glam-influenced proto-Oi! is back in the spotlights again, and Larry Noseman’s debut EP “Short Hair, Sideburns, Bovver Boots” deserves to be in the spotlight! The three tracks on this 45 are just pure class, brought with a hint of rock ‘n’ roll disgrace and a small dose of Chiswick-ness, Larry knows how to get those boots off the ground with the up-tempo title-track, the rockin’ love song “Drug Called Love” and the slow-paced stomper “Working Class” (hey hey), some crackin’ tunes indeed!

So cut that hair, grow those sideburns, put them heavy boots on and go mental to Larry Noseman’s beat! Clean, riotous proto-Oi! for fans of Hammersmith Gorillas, Third World War, ’77-era Skrewdriver or newer bands such as The Janitors and The Clichés! Hopefully more will follow!
