Lazy Class - Better Life

DIY (CD) / Rebellion Records (7")

Lazy Class, what an odd name for an Oi! band! But it is how it is and it’s how Eryk, Wiktor, Wróbel and Nowyk called their brand new band. You might know these guys from other punk and hardcore bands such as Good Old Days, The Damrockers, B.D.K., Core Ball, Wounded Knee or the Warsaw Dolls, but to be honest… I haven’t heard of any of these bands before and this information was provided by the promo sheet that was sent along with this CD.

As the names of the band members and one of the names of their old bands might have suggested, these guys hail from Warsaw, Poland and were formed in the summer of 2013. “Better Life” is their first release, contains a total of four tracks and is released by the band themselves in June of this year (2014). So you could consider this as their debut release or as a professional demo to gain more attention. Either way you want to call it, Lazy Class definitely deserves more attention after listening to “Better Life”, because I played this CD over and over again last afternoon. Not just because I ‘had’ to for my review, but also because I really was enjoying what I heard.

The four songs, “Better Life”, “Violent World”, “He’ll Never Return” and “Kiedys”, are real solid, well performed and catchy streetpunk tracks. Although I don’t know any of the other bands these guys still play in or have played in in the past, you definitely hear these guys are experienced and know how to play their instruments. Also with the exception of the final track “Kiedys” all other tracks are in English with hardly any accent, which is a real plus for these guys to make a name across their own borders. Look what happened with a band such as Lions Law, who are about to tour the US, it really helps. Now I don’t think Lazy Class has reached the same level as Lions Law just yet, but I hear a lot of potential in these songs and I could see a similar future ahead for these guys as long as they don’t live up to their band name.

I am not sure on how you can purchase this CD, but contact them through their Facebook or Bandcamp page and I am sure these guys can hook you up. It’s worth it and I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes out on a 7” sooner than later as well. Check these guys out!
