L’infanterie Sauvage - 1982 - 1984: Chansons A Roure

Dirty Punk Records

Loved, notorious and a classic outfit to the boot - that is L’infanterie Sauvage in a nutshell. The French Oi!-punk band was only active for little over two years back in the early 80’s, but they evolved into a legendary outfit nonetheless. Thanks to timeless anthems such as “Je Pense À La Russie”, “Nuits Blanches” and “Bords De Seine”, but also because of the band’s short and ugly history - all captured on and in Dirty Punk Records’ latest release “1982 - 1984: Chansons A Roure”!

Featuring 75 minutes of music, a total of 28 tracks, a 24-page booklet filled with photo’s, the band’s history and an interview (all in both French and English) - “1982 - 1984: Chansons A Roure” is a hefty compilation indeed! Packed in a colorful digipak, this compilation is also the first ever release of the band on CD - an official release that is - making the legacy of L’infanterie Sauvage available on every common sound carrier from now on.

Of course “1982 - 1984: Chansons A Roure” contains the band’s brilliant first (and only) EP “Chansons A Boire”, as well as the exclusive tracks that appeared on the cult-classic-compilations “France Profonde” (the song “Kriegspiel Station”) and “1984: The First Sonic World War” (that had the song “Les Poings Levés (Mais Les Poings Liés)”) - but there is more! Because besides these eight studio-recordings, this compilation also holds a grand total of 20 demo and live tracks, most of them recorded in the garage of frontman Géno.

Obviously there is some overlap in songs with the vinyl releases released by Une Vie Pour Vinyles? (UVPR Archives) and Spirit Of The Streets Records four/five years earlier, yet “1982 - 1984: Chansons A Roure” contains six more songs that weren’t featured on these compilations such as “Un Pays À Défendre”, “Adolf Au Vatican”, “Mon Combat” and “Politique”! Another surprise is the shockingly good sound quality, especially since a good chunk of this compilation was recorded in a garage... 36 to 37 years ago - fairly brilliant!

Therefor L’infanterie Sauvage’s latest compilation is definitely one worth picking up. The packaging is beautiful, the track-list is massive and the songs are pure cult! Props to Dirty Punk Records!
