Lion’s Law got my attention from the start when they put their first demo recording of the track “Watch ‘Em Die” on their Bandcamp page. Why? Mainly because Lion’s Law features members from other French up and coming Oi! band Maraboots and from the legendary Komintern Sect, which is without a doubt one of my favorite French bands along Snix, Camera Silens, Taxi Driver and West Side boys. Question now is if Lion’s Law can be added to this list of great names.
In all honesty I can say yes, they can. The band really impresses with their debut album “A Day Will Come” and despite the fact that it’s a cool selling point that some of the members still play, or have played, in other great French bands, Lion’s Law stands out on their own as well. “A Day Will Come” delivers twelve extreme catchy, melodic and ejoyable to listen to Oi! tracks that remain stuck in your head for the rest of the day and make you sing-a-long instantly after a first spin. Especially the songs “For My Clan”, “On The Terraces”, “I Don’t Give A Damn” and “1789” are classics in the making, but absolute favorite is “Lafayette” where the power lies in the melody of the added piano, but also the lyrics and the fantastic chorus make this song amazing!
Despite the fact that it’s still a week or six 2013 I pretty much had my “Top 10” list of albums finished up for this year. That was until “A Day Will Come” ended up in my stereo and I pretty much got to start all over again, because this is without a doubt one of the best pure Oi! records that came out this year! A must-have for anyone who wants to own the cream of the crop! Oh, and the vinyl comes with a free CD that also has the “Watch ‘Em Die” EP on it, sweet deal! Now get it.
