Lion's Law / Stars And Stripes - Heritage

Contra Records / Longshot Music

Who would have thought that brand new Stars And Stripes recordings would pop-up so fast after 2015’s album “Planet Of The States”? I certainly didn’t! But here I sit – in my brand new home – listening to the Bostonians’ latest slab of wax entitled “Heritage”, a superb split EP with one of France’s hardest working Oi! bands around: Lion’s Law!

First up are the French, who have been cracking out release after release and played show after show ever since they formed five years ago. Wattie and co. actually provide the title-track of this EP and it delivers everything you love about Lion’s Law. “Heritage” is a dark, but yet very melodic anthem with an excellent chorus, killer guitar solo and a grand finale that will have you singing along in no-time! See, I told you it contains all you love about these guys…

On the rampage since the late 80’s, Stars And Stripes (or Slapshot for that matter) has always been one of my all-time favorite bands. So there is no need to explain I got extremely stoked when I first heard about this split EP, especially since it follows up their last full-length so fast! The last album was dynamite and the Boston legends remain explosive with the brand new “Lion’s Law”, a brutal, mid-tempo stomper that is bound to bring some tensity to the dancefloor!

But that is not all, because both bands – surprise, surprise – cover a song of each other as well! Lion’s Law takes on “The Power And The Glory”, while Stars And Stripes performs “Knock ‘Em Out”. With both tracks being personal favorites, I can only compliment each band on their choice and enjoy them over and over again as this EP keeps flipping around!

Most definitely one of the must-haves of 2017!
