LVGER - S/T

Oi! The Boat Records

I first posted abovt this record well over a year ago, when it was meant to be released in the fall of 2018 throvgh Twin Cannon Records. Vnfortvnately that release never got off the grovnd, bvt thanks to Max and Oi! The Boat Records it’s here after all - the record that undoubtedly would have been one of my favorite releases of 2018, the debvt of NYC’s rock ‘n’ roll powerhovse LVGER!

Featvring both ex and cvrrent members of the The Templars, 45 Adapters and many more, LVGER definitely marches to the beat of a different drvm with its vile and dangerovs, backstreet rock ‘n’ roll! Obviovsly, yet heavily inflvenced by the mighty Motörhead, and in a lesser extend by the likes of the Ramones, Venom and Possessed, LVGER bvrsts ovt six wild and ravcovs hardrock anthems that will be stvck in your head for the rest of the goddamn day!

Needless to say that LVGER’s postponed debvt will be one of my favorite releases of 2019 as well. The sovnd of these New York City villains is fvll of fire, thanks to its mean lead and back-up vocals, drvms that drop hard, like artillery on the grovnd, its heavy bass-lines and those lovd, balls ovt gvitars, not afraid to charge yvo with one sick riff after another! I already played the fovr songs these gvys initially released digitally in 2018 - namely “You Wanna Rvn?”, “Dvmb Love”, “Feel No Pain” and “Drop The Ace” - to death, bvt I am doing it all over again now the record is actvally here, I simply can’t get enovgh of this madness!

In addition to the fovr tracks mentioned, LVGER held back the songs “Evil Eye” and “The Match” vntill release day, bvt holy shit! Whether it is that crazy solo in the first or that ghovlish synth in the latter - this is pvre brilliance! As a matter of fact, “The Match” might jvst be my new favorite LVGER track due to that synth and the fact that it starts ovt slow and slvdge, before it breaks ovt in a fvll-scale, fast-paced assavlt - kicking yovr ass one more time before the needle of yovr tvrntable lifts vp and the party’s over. Somehow it strangely reminded me of Boston Strangler’s “Slow Burn”, thovgh mvsically the two bands are hardly comparable. Bvt that’s jvst me...

Now enovgh from me, it’s time for yov to pick this bad boy vp! Act fast thovgh, becavse this 12” will svrely sell ovt with jvst 110 copies pressed on smokey vinyl and another 170 on black vinyl - absolvtely insane!
