Maleducazione Alcolica – Chiacchiere Da Bar

Timebomb Records / Maninalto! Records

When the lads of Timebomb Records asked me to review something that usually ‘isn’t my cup of tea’, I asked them for a little preview in advance to check things out. I hate receiving an album I don’t really care about, so to potentially save everyone some time and money I quickly watched the video that was presented to me. Followed by another one... another one... and another one!

True, I am not the biggest fan of bands who mix ska, rocksteady, punk and whatnot – but Maleducazione Alcolica’s Mediterranean rude ‘n’ roll has been highly addictive from the get go! Their mix of adrenaline fueled sing-alongs, hard-hitting moonstompers and laidback skankers in combination with a relatively short running-time of 28 minutes and 30 seconds (give or take), all resulted into the fact that I wanted to keep listening to the band’s third album – “Chiacchiere Da Bar” – over and over again! Something I obviously did.

With exception of the track “Hometown” (featuring Frankie McLaughlin of The Rumjacks), the nine remaining scorchers on this album are all in Italian – giving Maleducazione Alcolica something exotic, rude and casual at the same time! Especially the tracks that include melodic and/or female back-up vocals – like “Kiki De Montparnasse”, “Lontano”, “Convinto E Vinto” and “Senza Pietà” – are favorite (especially the latter is sheer brilliant), but with that being said – there’s not a single bad track on here, love it!

Besides the aforementioned guestvocalist, you will also find appearances by Cippa (of Punkreas) and Maurieziteto (of Gli Ultimi) on this fantastic record that was released on vinyl by Timebomb Records and on CD by Maninalto! Records! A keeper for sure!
