Off The Clock – For You

Insurgence Records

Recorded and reviewed in 2018, but physically released months later in 2019 – Off The Clock’s debut 12” “Vic City Skins” kind of fell off the radar when it was time to make up my infamous yearlists. My bad, because these lads definitely should have been on there with the angry grit they delivered! Luckily I get a second chance with the band’s latest release “For You” for Insurgence Records, though it directly is their very last effort as well...

Very unfortunate to say the least, because like its predecessor - “For You” is once again one sick record! Not just the music, but the packaging and vinyl itself look amazing as well. Limited to 300 copies and pressed on white vinyl, all music is pressed on the A-side (which is your regular vinyl), while the B-side is a picture disc without the grooves. Completely in style with the thick, two-sided front cover/lyric sheet, everything of this release is printed black on white (where debut “Vic City Skins” was printed white on black), giving it all a slick, clean look. Love it!

Another thing I absolutely (and obviously) love is Off The Clock’s music! The band’s powerful, brickwall sound is mean and boisterous, but very melodic at the same time – resulting in seven new, thunderous tracks! Very similar to guitarist Mike’s previous bands (Last Crusade, Thankless Graft, No Heart – just to name a few), Off The Clock is a hard-hitting powerhouse with gruff, barking vocals that will instantly grab you by the throat! “For You”, “Rise Up”, “In The End”, “Wolf”, “Small Town Clique”, “In The Street”, “Plastic Rockers”... there’s not a single bad track on here as the Canadians deliver pure fire from start to finish! A sick record indeed!

Now go get yourself a copy! With the band split up I doubt this will ever be re-pressed, so you better want to secure yourself a copy of this massive mini-LP in the first (and most likely only) round!
