Olga From The Toy Dolls - Olgacoustic

Randale Records

Although not always, they can be entertaining live, the Toy Dolls, but I have to admit I have never been a big fan of the band. The main reason is because I find the vocals of guitarist / vocalist Olga painfully annoying most of the time. Just my luck that I received Olga’s acoustic album, “Olgacoustic”, for review...

Now I can skirt around it, but as you might have guessed already this isn’t exactly my cup of tea. Without the in –and outro, the usual ‘theme tunes’, “Olgacoustic” contains thirteen Toy Dolls oldies that have gotten the ‘Spanish guitar treatment’ like “Dig That Groove Baby”, “Idle Gossip”, “You Won’t Be Merry On A North Sea Ferry” and “My Wife’s A Psychopath”.

Despite that some of the lyrics are written decades ago, a chunk of them still make me chuckle until this very day. But obviously that isn’t enough for me, although I am sure there are plenty of Toy Dolls fans out there who will find this fun and entertaining and get a good laugh out of this in a positive way. Unfortunately it’s the other way around for me.
