Out Of Order / Bats Out! - Split EP
8 Up Records
Out now on 7” vinyl, the all-Canadian split EP between Montreal’s Out Of Order and Regina’s Bats Out! on 8 Up Records! A good thing, because it has been a while since we heard anything new by either band - who now deliver two (new) songs each!
First up is Out Of Order with their last feat dating back to 2017, when Randale Records released the band’s third album “Stuck In The Mud” on vinyl. A year later, 2018 that is, the band headed back into the studio to record the two songs that ended up on this split EP. Hopefully this was a longer session with more to come, because “The Ace Is High” and “Insomnia” definitely taste like more and are undoubtedly the band’s strongest work to date! Melodic, yet hefty and powerful streetpunk as the band showcased on their previous work, only better than ever before!
On the flipside you’ll find Bats Out! who are finally following up 2015’s debut EP “Flying Blind” (Longshot Music/Pirates Press Records) with one new song (“Plastic Life”) and a cover of Cock SParrer’s “Out On An Island”! I honestly forgot about these guys, but with their uptempo and boisterous self-written track they are back with a vengeance! Just don’t take another five years again to follow up this single new track though...
Available on a variety of colored vinyl (the marbled vinyl looks awesome and is highly recommended if you ask me), the record comes in a thin-ish fold-out sleeve. Unfortunately the resolution of the file that was used for Bats Out!’s inside-page was too low, turning it into a relatively blurry pixel-fest but other than that - this is one solid EP!
