Out Of Order – Under The Knife

Randale Records/Bad Report Productions

If there’s one band that is consistent it must be Montreal’s own Out Of Order. Ever since their first full-length released on vinyl (“Better Days” for Vinyl 4 Bootboys Records in 2014) the Canadians have been releasing a new LP every three years with “Stuck In The Mud” in 2017, “Life Sentence” in 2020 and now in 2023; “Under The Knife”!

Once again released by Randale Records and the band’s own Bad Report Productions, “Under The Knife” comes on CD, and either on black or black/red galaxy vinyl. Now if you are free the choose whatever version you can buy I highly suggest the latter option. Not only does the galaxy vinyl look stunning, it actually looks like blood and therefor fits perfectly with the cover artwork. I personally love a match like that and with this release they really nailed it.

Another consistency of Out Of Order is that they just keep on pushing and keep on improving, truly delivering their best work to date with each new record they release! I’ve always liked the band ever since “Better Days” was first sent to me, but now – nearly a decade later – I can easily say they’re one of my favorite English-Canadian outfits around, period.

Musically not much has changed in that time span though. Out Of Order still delivers that good old streetrock ‘n’ roll, but they do so with sheer power, exciting melodies, killer guitar solos and solid, razor sharp vocals. Especially on vinyl, tracks like “Stay With Me”, “Saints And Sinners”, “Under The Knife”, “Valley Of The Wolves”, “Daybreak” and “Halfway To Nowhere” sound explosive and very powerful! Frontman Scott insisted that I wait with my review until I got a physical copy of the album and I understand why, because this is a great pressing!

So if you liked Out Of Order’s previous release, you will love “Under The Knife”. Not only does the vinyl – housed in a nice glossy sleeve – look great, it sounds excellent as well! So streetrock ‘n’ roll fans take note and get under the knife today!
