What do bands like 90 Proof, Fatskins and Rancid all have in common? Well, for starters they’re all great bands and released some amazing records in the 90’s that can be considered classics these days. Oh, and members of the above mentioned bands form the new ‘all-star’ line-up of Oxley’s Midnight Runners!

 

You must have been living under a rock if you don’t know Oxley’s Midnight Runners is the new band of Mike Oxley (Fatskins), Dave and Jeff (90 Proof), and Lars (Rancid, Bastards, Old Firm Casuals), but I wanted to state it anyways, just to be sure. These guys have just released their debut EP “We Are Legion” in a co-production between Randale Records and Oi! The Boat Records but they might as well have called it “We Are Legends” because this is just damn good stuff!

 

The A side contains two tracks, “Nation Of Hate” and “Spear Of Destiny”, and clock about two minutes each. Great lyrics, fantastic guitar work, Mike’s voice and a thunderous rhythm section give this band that classic American Oi! sound, but the real treat comes when you flip over the vinyl to the AA side that features the title track “We Are Legion” that is four and a half minutes of pure brilliance packed into a single song. I love everything of this track, the way the song is building up, the chorus, the lyrics, amazing guitar solos, this song is worth the purchase of this EP alone, just awesome!

 

But I got to warn you, if you still want this EP you better act fast. Because although there is a total of 1000 copies pressed of this bad boy it is pressed on four different colors (250 each) and with all the collectors out there this record is going fast. For good reasons, because so far this is one of the best EP’s I have heard this year!
