Plakkaggio - Ziggurath
Hellnation Store
Plakkaggio, formerly known as Plakkaggio HC, brings you some of the hardest sounds Europe’s, or at least Italy’s, Oi! Scene can give. The band’s brutal mix of Oi!, hardcore and black / heavy metal impresses, especially on their last two full-length albums “Fronte Del Sacco” and “Approdo”, that can be considered as essential in my book. Now, after the earlier released “C.D.G.” EP, that was the band’s first assault in their new line-up and without the ‘HC’ moniker, the band is about to release their brand new album “Ziggurath” for Rome’s Hellnation Store this November. Needless to say, but I am stoked!
On “Ziggurath” the band delivers, besides the acoustic intro, ten brand new ‘New Wave Of Black Heavy Metal Oi!’ bangers! Influenced by the likes of Darkthrone, Immortal, Cock Sparrer and Italian Oi! and punk legends such as Nabat, Rough and Klaxon, the band demolishes anything and anyone that crosses their path! With Metallica-ish intro’s (sometimes literally, just listen to the title-track “Ziggurath”), complex Iron Maiden-esque melody in riffs and solo’s, powerful choruses, pure evil (the LP isn’t limited to 666 copies for good old Catholic reasons) and melancholy (the beautiful “Proto Indo Europa”), Plakkaggio releases a modern day classic that smashes musical boundaries and mashes these genres in perfection!
If you are into the more traditional Oi! sounds, you probably ‘don’t get it’, though you might be surprised! If you are into bands like Facção Opposta, Discharger’s later work and Battle Ruins you are a few steps closer to most likely getting possessed by this Italian NWOBHMOi! powerhouse! Hail Plakkaggio, because “Ziggurath” kills!
