Sure, I have seen the name Reconquesta on a flyer here and there, but I never heard a single song from this Oi! band from Barcelona, Catalonia before. At least not until this weekend when I received a promo in my mailbox for their upcoming, untitled, debut EP on Disco Nightmare / See You Records, two new labels I never heard of either, but there’s a first time for everything.

 

What you get on this EP are two tracks, “Glòria” and “Reconquesta”, with a sound that reminds me a bit of a modern Combat 84 or 80’s French Oi! with pride in their Catalonian roots. Not like the bands that were featured on the “Chaos In Catalonia” compilation but with a more militant feel to it, though we’re not dealing with a political band of any kind here. Reconquesta mentions a variety of bands as their influences such as The Pilseners and Ultimo Asalto in their biography, bands with different backgrounds, but with one common goal, the independence of the State of Catalonia!

 

Pretty good debut EP from Reconquesta that is available in a total run of 300 copies. 100 on red vinyl, 100 on black vinyl and another 100 on black wax but with alternative cover artwork. Not sure yet on where to order this, but keep an eye on the Reconquesta Facebook page to stay up to date!
