Red Alert – Third And Final E.P.

Common People Records

It hasn’t been that long since Common People Records issued Red Alert’s singles collection “The Oi! Singles” on LP for the very first time. With a slightly shorter tracklist than the original CD version on Captain Oi! – the LP version covered the period between 1980 and 1983 – it still contained all crucial Red Alert singles and EP’s, including the band’s debut – the “Third And Final” E.P.

Therefore it might be a bit odd to reissue Red Alert’s classic first effort individually as well, but on the other hand – why not? The original 1980 release is selling at a hefty price tag and the reissue by Combat Rock in 1994 – released under the title “Border Guards” – is long out of print as well. All good reasons to give this “Third And Final” E.P. a third – and final? – go.

The four tracks, “Third And Final”, “Border Guards”, “Sell Out” and “District Boredom”, still stand their ground nearly 40 years after their initial release. Just clocking over six minutes long, the songs are short, yet powerful and one for one crucial anthems that should be in your collection one way or another!

Along with a revision of the original front cover artwork and the limitation of just 100 copies on white vinyl (the remaining 650 copies come on black vinyl), Common People Records made this pressing interesting for both newcomers and collectors, or anyone who didn’t own this classic piece of British Oi!-punk history already!
