Savage Beat – Wired
Rebellion Records / LSM Vinyl
And then there was Savage Beat. Pretty much out of nowhere this Dutch formation - featuring members of The Shining, The Works, Wanderlust and more – came, saw and conquered with 2017’s debut 12” “Trench Warfare” on Evil Has Landed Records – what a release! Now it’s 2019 and while Savage Beat’s debut is still on a very frequent rotation schedule, the band is on the verge of releasing their first full-length record “Wired” – a much anticipated release to say the least!
Now the lads from Amsterdam instantly set the bar extremely high with “Trench Warfare”, but any form of pressure or nerves to outdo themselves seems out of the question. And if there was any, it definitely didn’t have any negative effect on the final result, as the band is coming out even stronger than before!
Sounding a bit more diverse than on their debut, Savage Beat delivers an ever exciting mix of ’77 punk, proto-Oi!, pubrock and raw rock ‘n’ roll –killing it from start to finish! Hands-down one of my favorite bands of the moment, and “Wired” only underlines this with a big, fat, black marker! Not flagging for a single second, Savage Beat delivers full-blown energy, three-chord thrills and pure savagery for ten songs straight, making you want to listen to them over and over again. Remember that frequent rotation schedule I mentioned earlier? “Wired” has got you covered once more!
With pretty much every song, Savage Beat kicks the pedal down to the metal, going full speed ahead in a rush of rock ‘n’ roll adrenaline, except on title-track “Wired”. This 4 minute and 22 second long epos is a slow, yet genius piece of hard rockin’ brilliancy any fan of Motörhead will love! Without a doubt one of my favorites, though “Take It Further”, “So Much Hate”, “Tar And Feathers”, “On The Outside”, “Leather On Leather” and “All Odds Against You” can easily compete for that role as well.
Released by Rebellion Records (Europe) and LSM Vinyl (North America), the vinyl version comes in two versions. A neon-green slab of wax with green text on the jacket for the European market (350 copies) and 150 pieces of black vinyl with purple text on the jacket for North America. Either version will be gone quick and if you are a fan of early The Kids, early Skrewdriver and every fuckin’ thing Motörhead has ever done, you’ll be doing yourself a favor by securing one or two copies! Superb!!
