Shandy - Bish Bosh Bash
Contra Records / Longshot Music
When I saw Shandy’s music-video “Dance All Night” for the first time I became an instant fan! The sound, whether you want to call it bovver boogie, hard glam or sugar Oi!, in combination with the humor of the clip immediately made me buy their debut EP, with the same title, that was released by Bootboys’ Cove Records last year. Now the sharpies and bootboys from Down Under are back with a new 45, so button-up and give those dancing shoes a nice polish because it’s time to “Bish Bosh Bash”!
“Bish Bosh Bash”, not to be mistaken with The Jook’s “Bish Bash Bosh”, is, just like the track on the B-side, exclusively recorded for this 7”. So don’t think you can skip this EP and catch these songs on the band’s upcoming LP “Tougher Pucker” (that is out on CD already in Australia), because you won’t. Consider this a great warm-up for what, I think, will be an excellent debut full-length that I can’t wait to hear!
“Bish Bosh Bash” on the A-side definitely keeps the buzz going on for me, the music makes you want to clap your hands and stomp your bouncing soles to the beat of this hard glam scorcher that has you dancing and singing along in no-time! It has a feel-good and tough sound at the same time and I personally can’t get enough of this rocker! The B-side shows a slightly different face of the Shandy gang, turning Aussies from ‘rock ‘n’ roll outlaws’ into “Rock ‘n’ Roll Soldiers” that sing along loud and proud on the frontlines of hard rockin’ roll, with this anthemic battle hymn!
These guys better bring that “Tougher Pucker” CD to Europe next month, because after this slab of wax I can’t wait to hear more by these guys! Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi! Oi! Oi!
