Skinkorps - Il Faudra Bien Vous Y Faire / Faut Assurer
Bords De Seine
Late last year Bords De Seine started out with “Oi! The Vintage Series”, a collection of classic French Oi! reissued, compiled and thrown in a brand new jacket for us ...to buy all over again or finally make the collection complete of classic and / or rare material. Last year the series kicked off with Taxi Driver, Oïskank and Boot Boys and now the “Oi! The Vintage Series” is back stronger than ever with two releases of legendary cult band Skinkorps, “Il Faudra Bien Vous Y Faire” and “Faut Assurer”.
Now personally I have been waiting for this release to happen for a long time. Of course I know Skinkorps’ albums, EP’s and demo’s, but only through the ‘illegal’ way. The originals are way too rich for my taste, and with the unofficial bootlegs you still ‘don’t have it all’, but finally the complete collection is here, thanks to Bords De Seine and 100% approved by the band.
The main attraction for me is the release of “Il Faudra Bien Vous Y Faire” that contains both Skinkorps’ full-length albums “Mr. Clean” and “Il Faudra Bien Vous Y Faire” along with various songs that were contributed to compilations. This collection contains 27 songs if you buy the double LP version and 46(!) songs if you get the double CD version. I might not be that die-hard of a collector that I need all originals, but of this release I just had to get both versions. One, to own every song and two because the CD release looks magnificent as well in a hardcover, book like digipak that contains the bands history, tons of photos, an interview, a concert list and discography. Unfortunately it’s all in French, so I can hardly read a word of it, but the 19 ‘bonus tracks’ do the trick and contain amongst other things their 1988 demo and several EP tracks they weren’t able to fit on the other release “Faut Assurer”.
“Faut Assurer” is the second release of Skinkorps compiled work and comes on a single CD and on a double LP and contains a total of 25 songs including the bands very first work, the title might have given it away already, “Faut Assurer!” demo from all the way back to 1984! A great piece of history along with the remaining tracks of the EP’s “Une Force Une Hymne!” (1986), “Super Piction” (1987), “Vacances En Sibérie” (1988) and “Rock’N’Oi!” (1989). As said, both the CD and vinyl version contain the exact amount as well as the same songs, so of “Faut Assurer” I only picked up the double LP set and just as “Il Faudra Vous Y Faire” simply looks amazing in its gatefold jacket and printed inner sleeves.
I believe Skinkorps hardly need any introduction, so it would be pointless to actually review the music on both releases. If you are into classic French Oi! these releases are an absolute must-have! Also if you have all, or most, originals, I believe Bords De Seine still made an essential product for you as well with tons of extra’s along with a great way to spare your old and precious first pressings. I can’t wait for the label’s upcoming collections of Tolbiac’s Toads and Snix! Sublime!
