Stank Voor Dank - Where Seagulls Dare

Self-released

A band from San Francisco, USA with a Dutch name? What the what? Must be the influence of Dutch bassist Rody (ex-Brat Pack), because other than that Stank Voor Dank is as American as apple pie! Along with (ex-)members of Texas Thieves, Retox, Go Time!, Fracas and more, Rody and his latest pack recently self-released their 10” debut with the illustrative title “Where Seagulls Dare”!

Although the title is a spoof on the Misfits’ “Where Eagles Dare”, musically Stank Voor Dank is hardly influenced by the devilock’s from New Jersey. More by the likes of Ill Repute, Dr. Know, White Kaps and Das Klown if I have to drop any names, though this scenery is not really my field of expertise (if I have any to begin with). Who cares though? In the end it’s all hardcore-punk and that is exactly what these four punks deliver!

Coming in at 45 rotations per minute, opener “Bangers & Meth” is a short, fast-paced charge to get your attention! Nonetheless it has a relatively short, yet roaring solo in it - which immediately displays the decades of experience all members combined have! Something they continue to do so on the remaining five tracks - “Evel”, “Blackout Drinking”, “Naranja Clown” and my two favorites “Neanderthal” and title-track “Where Seagulls Dare”! Great stuff that could have easily been released by Dr. Strange or Mystic Records as well.

I am not sure how many copies the band made (I assume somewhere between 300 and 500 copies), but all of them come on black vinyl, an insert and some sweet artwork! Check these guys out if you like your punk hard or nard!
