Street Troopers / Bromure – Split EP (ISS 001)
Insurgence Records
Last year Canadian label Insurgence Records launched a new split series – the Inflame Singles Series, ISS for short – featuring all new material by two (international) bands. The first in this series is a combination between Montreal's (Canada) veterans Street Troopers and the new wave of Parisian (France) Oi!, Bromure – a striking combination indeed!
First up are the Street Troopers on side A. Known for their releases in the mid to late 90's on Knock Out Records, this split marks the return of these Canadian old-timers, featuring two, all-new anthems! Still taking the battle to the streets after two decades, the band cranks out two killer tracks like they’ve been doing nothing but making music for the past 20 years! Hopefully this release will mark the band's definitive return, because “Sharp As A Knife” and “Backbencher” definitely taste like more!
Now a band that always tastes like more is without a doubt Bromure! The band already released a killer debut EP and a massive, self-titled LP, that I almost forgot that this split 7” got released somewhere in-between! With one unreleased track - “Jean Délavé”, and one song off the “A La Roquette” EP - “Mains Dans Les Poches, the volume goes up a few notches, because the combination of Wattie's killer vocals, the incredibly energetic sound and Alex's sublime play of the saxophone is pure fire – what a band!
So yeah, I'm a bit late to the Inflame Singles Series’ party, but maybe you are too... Nonetheless, it is not too late to join in on the festivities, because this series of split EP's looks (and obviously sounds) very promising, as proven by this first volume!
