Strike Back - MMXIV
Formed in 2014 - as the title of this CD refers to - Strike Back from Madrid, Spain previously released a full-length LP, a 12” EP (both on Fierro! Records) and a 7” on Tough Ain’t Enough Records. All killer releases, but previously only available on vinyl... until now that is! Because with “MMXIV” Zerowork Records collects all of the band’s previous releases on one, handy CD!
Including all of the band’s recorded work, “MMXIV” contains the “Arde Madrid” LP, the “Alone In The Battle” 12” and the “About Justice...” 7” for a grand total of 17 tracks! Especially the latter two releases showcase the progression the band has made since 2014’s first LP - which was already an excellent debut to begin with!
Because where “Arde Madrid” seemed to be more influenced by the likes of early Perkele or Evil Conduct, “Alone In The Battle” and “About Justice...” were definitely influenced by the hard-hitters of the genre! With the distortion fully open, Strike Back sounds heavier, provides killer riffs and melodies, while the vocals sound more barbaric than ever before! Needless to say, but with tracks such as “Do Or Die”, “Traitor”, “Bien Atado”, “Destroy, Divide” and “Incapaces” the second half of this CD is my favorite half, though tracks like “Carry On”, “Drunk And Degenerate”, “Arde Madrid” and “Mordaza” are catchy as hell as well!
With nearly a hour of music compiled, both Strike Back and Zerowork Records deliver you a whole lot of killer tunes for your buck! Ideal if you don’t own a turntable, too lazy to flip three separate records over and over again or if you are a completest that wants to own it all!
