Strike First – Wolves

Rebellion Records

After a relatively small, yet extremely solid discography, Atlanta’s powerhouse Drink & Destroy Crew (DDC) decided to call it a day. Luckily for us blood is thicker than water, as founding DDC members Wynn and Ronnie already had a new band in the works, and even better... that band is about to release its debut 12” for Rebellion Records!

The band in question is called Strike First and their debut is entitled “Wolves” – an eight-track attack that basically has everything that DDC had – only bigger, better and stronger than ever before!

Now I don’t know what the correct superlative of a powerhouse is, but Strike First is definitely it! The wall of sound that the boys of the ATL created is massive, the songs are tight as hell and every anthem is filled with superb melodies, huge choruses and killer vocals by Wynn, who now takes honors of the lead-vocals as well – just as he did on DDC’s split 10” with Assault & Battery.

Besides Strike First’s own colossal and bold scorchers such as “Unbreakable”, the amazing “The Flame”, “Dirty Kids” and “Wolves”, the band also re-recorded “Fight Like Hell” – which originally appeared on the aforementioned split 10”, but now features guest vocals by Zach Hembree of Hembree & The Satan Sisters, Crawl and more – and a cover of one of rock ‘n’ roll’s greatest ever – Oasis. A surprising cover indeed, but Strike First brings it on down nonetheless!

Housed in a sleeve with some sick artwork, “Wolves” is only available on vinyl (for now at least) and comes in either black (100 copies) or ultra-clear vinyl with black and red splatter (200 copies). If you love DDC or other new-ish bands with that big, heavy sound such as Legion 76 or Vis Vires, you will love Strike First as well! A must!
