Sun City Skins - Viejo Orgullo, Nueva Gloria

Since “Viejo Orgullo, Nueva Gloria” (“Old Pride, New Glory”) is Sun City Skins first ever release you’d think this Mexican Oi! band is new, but if I understand their biography correctly these guys have been around since 2008! That’s a long time to wait on your debut release and I don’t know the reason of it, maybe it will come out in an interview one day.

 

One thing I am pretty sure of is that it doesn’t have to do anything with the lack of quality of the music, because the three tracks plus intro on “Viejo Orgullo, Nueva Gloria” are top notch Oi! crackers! Music on this 7” reminds me of bands such as Ultimo Asalto, Decibellios but most of all of some good old Alta Tension. Of course this partly has to do with the Spanish language, but Sun City Skins sound tough, up-tempo and in your face with every single song on this EP, love it!

 

Our Czech friends over at Vinyl 4 Bootboys Records caught yet another gem for the label! The artwork looks kind of funny, but don’t let that fool you, because the songs “Tu Realidad”, “La Vieja Escuela” and “Frente En Alto” mean serous business! Awesome!
