I love the bandname, I love the artwork and photography that has been used and I love the album. With all that summed up it would have been a real let down if Tailgunner dissapoints with their full-length debut album “Sing-Alongs And Gatling Guns” musicly. But guess what… they don’t!
This could have easily become one of my favorite records of 2011 if I have heard it in 2011 that is, because that’s the year “Sing-Alongs And Gatling Guns” originally came out. Especially for a debut album, not even an EP was released prior tot “Sing-Alongs And Gatling Guns”, this is a real good and solid record with all killers and no fillers! Which is a pretty good thing knowing there are 15 tracks on this album.
Musicwise the sound of Tailgunner is somewhere between Oi! and punk ‘n’roll and a minimum use of more traditional musicinstruments on a few songs. So it does not surprise me when Tailgunner mentions bands such as Cock Sparrer, The Business, The Ramones and The RealMcKenzies as influences, because you definately hear something back from everything in the band’s songs which they manage to blend into a sound of their own.
Altough this record came out a year or two ago it’s still worth picking up. Great debut from this Montreal (Canada) based tailgunners!
