The Bench / The Bois – Split EP

Insurgence Records

After split EP’s between Street Troopers and Bromure, The Press and The Brass and The Prowlers and Rude Pride, it’s now time for the fourth and final release of Insurgence Records’ ‘Inflame Singles Series’! Very unfortunate to say the least, because the series contained some gems – including its very last contributions by both The Bench and The Bois!

The Bench are up first and hail from Russia. A young band, I assume, because this split marks their debut with two tracks, instantly delivering some killer material! With one song in Russian, “The Cuffs”, and one in English, “While I’m Young”,  The Bench handles both languages well, while the music is tight and powerful streetpunk influenced Oi!, with strong melodies and massive sing-alongs – I like it! Definitely keen on hearing more of these lads, so hopefully that will happen sooner than later!

On the flipside you’ll find the veterans of The Bois, flag-bearers of Singaporean Oi! and going strong for 20 years(!) now with two brand new tracks! Now these lads always deliver top quality and these strong and melodic, mid-tempo anthems – named “From The Heart” and “Don’t Look Back” – are no exception! Great stuff and hopefully a herald of things to come – two decades of The Bois obviously deserves a new full-length in the end! For now these scorchers will do though!

So that’s it, the end of the ‘Inflame Singles Series’ – for now at least! I do hope on a second series, because both the line-up, the songs and the artwork has been of top quality and definitely calls for a follow up! Time will tell... just make sure you complete the first series with this top notch split EP though!
