The Charley Few – Teufelshunde

This Fucking City

 

Well over three years after the band’s first album “Punk Fire Never Die!”, the Philadelphian devil dogs of The Charley Few are back on the streets again with a brand new LP for This Fucking City! Available for quite some time already, it wasn’t until recently that a few copies of “Teufelshunde” reached the HQ – time for a review!

 

Now I have to be honest, I was a bit skeptical at first. The album has been out for so long already and I literally hadn’t heard anything about it, making me wonder how good could it be – right? Well, pretty damn good actually! It just shows that you can’t be aware of every single band out there, because especially the mid-tempo tracks on “Teufelshunde” are scorching!

 

Anthems like “Back On The Streets”, “What We Do” (my favorite), “Bounce Back”, “Stand Our Ground” and “Never Gave Up!” will get your fists clenched and raised in the air while furiously singing along to one of the boisterous choruses! The Charley Few sounds tough and fun at the same time, while in general their sound massively progressed compared to their aforementioned, first LP.

 

Sure, I am not a big fan of the more up-tempo, streetpunk-influenced tracks on “Teufelhunde”, but these are outnumbered by the songs I am a fan of. Therefor this record turned out into a nice little surprise with some very enjoyable moments!
