The Firm - Stand Your Ground

Olifant Records

The Firm from my hometown Rotterdam, The Netherlands has a tough time keeping a steady line-up because it already has changed several times during their existence. Especially a proper drummer seems hard to find and a couple of months ago it almost seemed like the end of the band… but the band rose from their grave and is ready to perform again! On top of that Polish record label Olifant Records is releasing a compilation CD with all songs recorded by The Firm over the years.

“Stand Your Ground” is the title of this compilation and has a total of 13 songs on it. Six of them you might already know from their impressive side of their split LP with The Pride and tracks like Broken Family and Towerblocks were featured on various compilation CD’s. Besides those songs there are also a few previously unreleased tracks on here such as We’re The Firm, Stand Your Ground and the covers Killing Machine (Partisans), Government Out (The Opressed) and Antisocial (Skrewdriver). None of these songs are any less than the work that was already released, got a fast pace to it and every single track has that great tough as nails brickwall Oi! sound to it that makes me want to crack some skulls! Love it!

The lyrics of The Firm are sometimes a bit controversial or ‘political incorrect’, this band does not mince its words and gained them some enemies over the years. Punk and Oi! music to me is saying what is on your mind and that is exactly what The Firm does, in combination with their violent and powerful sound this band is a real Dutch powerhouse and a force to be reckon with now the band is back together again. Pick this up!
